Hello, world
Hi, I'm Teo. I'm a software engineer from Buenos Aires, and in a few weeks I'm moving to Rotterdam. This site is where I'll keep track of what I work on and what I learn along the way. This first note is the introduction.
The short version
These days I work on developer experience and platform engineering at Veritran. That means building the internal platform other engineers use to build, release and run their software, with a lot of Kubernetes and Backstage. Before that I spent three years at Koibanx, where I ended up owning a transactional core in Go that talks to a blockchain.
The longer version
I didn't start with code. I went to a technical high school specializing in electronics, and for our final-year project a few classmates and I built Brint: an affordable home printer turned into a low-cost braille printer. It won a few science fairs and a young-entrepreneur award, and it's where the braille dots in its logo come from.
After graduating, my first jobs at ADOX were repairing anesthesia machines and infusion pumps, then industrial maintenance, then prototyping in the R&D department with 3D printers, laser cutters and CAD. At some point the R&D team needed software, and I started writing React and Node. I never really went back.
I still think like someone who fixes machines: find out how the thing actually works, change one thing at a time, and leave it simpler than you found it. That's most of what platform work is, too.
Off the keyboard
I run, I go to the gym and I like cycling, which is convenient given where I'm moving. I used to play rugby at Los Matreros. I'm also learning Dutch, slowly.
Why a website
I wanted a small place on the internet that's mine and isn't a feed. It's hand-made and permanently unfinished. I'll write here when I have something worth writing down: things I learn at work, the move and whatever else comes up.
If you want to say hi, send me an email or sign the guestbook.
